8 months! This age is so incredibly fun and Xander is completely full of personality!
Halloween was included in Xander’s 8th month and his little tiger outfit and lion costume were so adorable (more pictures below). He tolerated the hats for each outfit so well! We had two mommy play groups with the babies in costumes and the pictures of all the babies are absolutely adorable. I didn’t post the pictures for privacy reasons, but trust me, so so cute.
We are learning to layer up now that cooler weather is coming. Xander seems to not mind at all! We’re also learning to always have a blanket in the car as well as a sweatshirt for X. You’ll see in a silly picture below from our hiking trip that has Xander’s undershirt sticking out from his sweatshirt. That’s because the sweatshirt was a three months size, but at least we had one in the car! We left our house and when we arrived to hike by the water, the air temperature was much cooler than our town! Parenting fail and win!
This month Xander loves: the baby swing, kneeling, standing while holding on to something and assisted walking, his wubby, bath time, and swim class.
This month Xander hates: changing into clothes after bath time and when you don’t help him walk.
Xander eats: sweet potato, cannellini beans, spaghetti squash, avocado, applesauce, eggplant, mashed potatoes made with breast milk, peas and baby mum mums. He eats this all himself with the except of eating off the spoon for applesauce and peas (just because someone gave us a jar of baby peas). He loves holding his own food and being in control of what enters his mouth. Definitely more nerve wracking than spoon feeding, but it’s going very well! Note: he also likes onion but we’ve only let him have that once. We put cinnamon on the sweet potato and garlic powder in the peas. This boy likes flavor!
The next foods we are going to introduce are: quinoa, banana (again, since he hasn’t liked it yet), and butternut squash. His main meal is at dinner time, but sometimes he has a few bites of breakfast as well. Nursing is going great and he really enjoys his nursing sessions. In fact, the sessions have recently been a lot longer than before – I think due to all the moving around he is doing now.
When we go out to eat he now sits in the high chairs and just loves looking around. We bring some mum mums with us, but one of us usually orders something with food on it that he can eat (he’s had sweet potato and avocado at restaurants so far). One time we actually had to order an extra sweet potato for him because he was so hungry and I apparently didn’t share enough! Ha! He also sits in grocery cart when we go shopping; it’s so cute!
Xander has also experienced some firsts this month, aside from his first Halloween: first time to DC, riding a metro, nursing on the metro, and first teeth!! Yes, little mister has cut his bottom two teeth! He doesn’t let us look at them very often, but boy can you feel them! Teething has been going so well thus far – no fussing, screaming, drooling or fever. The main thing we’ve noticed is that he likes to have his wubby a little more often, so we’ve let him have it outside of his crib recently.
I feel like this post only captures the tiniest glimpse into Xander’s life. He is SO amazing! We are so blessed and the upcoming holidays are going to be so special with him!
Mommy and daddy love you little X!!
