I hope everyone had an amazing amazing Christmas/New Year and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. We had some exciting things happen over break, but I will save that for another post! Today is all about the 29 week bump!
I just cannot believe that if this baby follows the timeline of its brothers, that he/she could be here in a short 9 weeks! Life totally gets busier with each pregnancy because you have more kids to take of, so we have a lot to still prepare for this little nugget! We did get X and L bunk beds, although just X is sleeping in it. L is content in the crib, so baby3 will go in the mini crib in our bedroom for some time, just like we did for L.
The boys are getting excited about the baby, which is super sweet. Xander will come over to me and put his hands on my belly asking the baby to kid. Lincoln will put his head on my belly trying to hear him/her. Love that they’re excited and that L is grasping the concept of a new baby. I do think it’ll be a rough transition for him, as he is quite the cuddle bug and still nurses 1 before nap and occasionally before bed. So we shall see!!!
During my 28 week visit a couple days ago, I had my blood draw for my third trimester screen, as well as my glucose test. First, my midwives standard glucose test is a 100g 2 hour test… a way to catch more woman who develop gestational diabetes. While I appreciate this and understand they’re reasoning, I did inquire about the more traditional one hour test since bringing the boys to a two hour appt did not sound appealing.
Being that my midwives know I’m a dietitian, have been active throughout this pregnancy, and have never had an issue with GD before, they approved me for the one hour test and to my AWESOME surprise, they do a FOOD test!! My dietetic heart was so happy!! I had a few options to choose from but chose to drink 8 ounces of apple juice and eat 1/2 of a ripe banana. I passed the test with flying colors with a result of 81mg/dL (just has to be below 135). In regards to the blood work, this is the first third trimester that I’ve had where it came back NOT anemic! That was a nice surprise for me, as I’ve typically had pregnancy anemic with the other kiddos.
That’s pretty much it for now! I started Pure Barre last night and feel amazing today! But I’ll save the details of that for another post! Have a wonderful weekend!
