Heyyyyy! I’m hoping to post more regularly with my Fit Mama Friday series, so I hope all my fellow pregnant, postpartum, or any mama out there enjoys these! To help enhance the Fit Mama Friday series, I will be offering a bit more insight on certain things I do while pregnant, as well as keep up with my amazing Fit Mama features. I know many currently pregnant women who have stayed very fit; I can’t wait to introduce you to them!
Today’s Fit Mama Friday topic is maternity support belts for fitness. When I was pregnant with Xander, I was able to maintain running until about 25 weeks pregnant. This was up to five miles at a time with my endurance feeling good, but my lower half feeling ehhh. I knew when I got pregnant with baby H2.0, I would want a maternity support belt for fitness to see if my running could go a bit longer into pregnancy.
I am happy to say that I DID get a belt, thanks to my MIL for my birthday. I chose the Gabrialla Maternity Support Belt in black. Just for reference, I will tell you that I needed a size medium. I’ve made a quick video below to show you how to put the support belt on…

Now, I’m excited to tell you all about my thoughts on wearing the belt while running:
- I found the belt more comfortable to wear OVER my clothes. I think this also helps reduce chaffing while running, as well as keeps the belt less sweaty.
- My pelvis felt supported and I am less tender in that area following my run – both immediately and the following day.
- My lower back felt great. I think this is the best part of the belt.
- I still felt like I needed to pee during the entire run.
A great thing about this belt is you can wear it for every day use, as well as during fitness. I haven’t needed to do this yet, but I can see how when I have days with lots of lower back pain, I will want to grab it!
Having this belt will help me keep up with running and other fitness activities longer into my pregnancy this time! I’m also excited for my water classes to start next week – shallow water running for me and aqua mommies/babies for me and Xander. These classes are 14 weeks long and will take me right up until I give birth! I have plans to feature both of my classes as Fit Mama Friday topics as well! (I still owe you thoughts on deep water running while pregnant too!)
