So we totally bought those cute stickers for Lincoln but were totally convinced that they weren’t stickers until AFTER we already took the pictures – haha. But here was our first attempt at monthly pictures with the stickers-that-we-didn’t-think-were-stickers-but-do-actually-stick.
Stats: Lincoln had his one month check-up yesterday on his one month birthday and did great! He weighed 9 pounds 13.5 ounces (~60%tile), 21.25 inches (~50%tile), and ~75%tile for head circumference. We definitely aren’t used to these numbers from our experience with Xander! I can thank his great nursing for his weight gain – I figured it would be easier this time around – Xander only stopped nursing in August, so there was only a four month break for my boobs. They definitely knew how to get right back into the swing of things! Lincoln definitely has moments of chugging the milk too fast and has had a couple of spit up episodes. It’s nothing of concern – I just have to give him plenty of upright time after feedings, as well as a few breaks during the feeding.
Jaundice Update: Our pediatrician thought his color was improving and will send us for bilirubin blood work at two months if necessary. At this point in time it seems as though we are past the worse of his jaundice scare. So thankful.
Sleep: Lincoln is doing much better than Xander ever did with sleep! I think this is in part due to him feeding better and having a full belly. He typically sleeps 2-3 hours at a time during the day and has given us a few 3.5-4 hour stretches at night. He has a little stuffy nose at the moment, so the last two nights haven’t been as successful – lots of upright time in the rocker – but we’re hopeful the good sleep continues.
Demeanor: So far it’s kind of hard to analyze Lincoln’s behavior because he’s only awake for a couple hours a day! He has given us some goofy smiles, as well as some screaming fits, but overall he’s an absolute complete joy!
Xander’s Adjustment: The past two weeks have been much better than the first two weeks! Xander seems less jealous (although he still has times of complete jealousy) but definitely takes full advantage of all our time and hugs when we aren’t holding Lincoln. In fact, sometimes Xander will point to Lincoln in our arms and then point to the swing and say “sit.” It’s too funny. I’ve found that our morning goes a lot better if I’m able to get Xander out of bed/dressed/fed all while Lincoln is sleeping. There are some days that this doesn’t happen and our morning has a lot more tears from both boys. Figuring out our routine is a work in progress that requires adjustments as needed!
Random Notes: We introduced the pacifier around 3 weeks old – he takes it find somedays and wants nothing to do with it days. One of my friends gave me an extra boppy and it is so nice to have one upstairs and one downstairs. We plan to introduce the bottle between 5-6 weeks old and will have John give one feeding approximately 3 times a week (tentatively Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).
I think that’s all for now – let me know if I missed anything or if you have any questions! Happy one month Lincoln – mommy, daddy, and Xander love you! xo
