Hello my friends! It is time for another installment of the WAHpreneur Life Series with moi and Lindsey as your hosts! Each month we pick a topic to chat about and pretty soon we will be adding a link up to the posts so you can chat through these topics as well! This month we are talking about online tools that help us, as mamas who rock the biz life from home, run our businesses smoothly.
Today I will be discussing the top 5 tools that help my businesses the most.
Automating social media posts is KEY when you want to not feel tied to the computer or phone all day and be able to engage with your kiddos who are at home too! Dedicating time each week to schedule posts to your needed social media accounts helps gives you that freedom. PLUS, then each day you can simply check in and engage with the people who have interacted with your post, instead of thinking about what to post every day. If you aren’t automating content, it’s definitely time to think more about your time and schedule. Buffer only costs $10/month.
- A Business Group
I am part of Nicole Culver’s Blogger to Business Support Group and having a group of business babes has been amazing. Her group is seriously the best on the internet. Nicole is a great mentor herself, has office hours for us every week, and the ladies in the group are a wealth of knowledge, support, and constructive criticism. We participate in two week sprints to keep our business thriving and the accountability is my favorite. This business group is also how I met Lindsey and how we connected to start this series! Price is a bit variable, as it depends on when you joined, but I pay less than $50/month for this.
- Virtual Assistants
I am lucky enough to have two virtual assistants who help me complete all the business work that needs to be done. BUT, I was also smart enough to realize that I needed this help and that paying for an assistant would help me make MORE money… even though it’s nerve wracking at first be spending money to make money. With my other business, BAMR Bands, I hired my VA in January and have DOUBLED my sales since then. It’s worth it, ladies!! Pay rate for this is variable, but $10-$15/hour is a rough standard at the moment.
- Email Automation
I personally use Active Campaign and love it. I admittedly don’t use it as much as I should, but having an email service is also key for your business. Sure, you might have XYZ followers on XYZ social media account, but what happens if that platform goes down? Or dies?! (We’ve already seen the death of platforms – it CAN happen!) How will you get in touch with your people? You NEED a list. It can even be a free email service. But for my current $17/month with Active Campaign, I can do SO much with my list. (Mailchimp and ConvertKit are also popular email services).
This last online tool is one for the kids and it. is. a. must. If your kiddos are between ages 2-7, you definitely want to go check it out. It is an educational website that helps your kiddo with reading, math, and so much more. StarFall not only gives my kids time to participate in interactive learning, but it gives mommy extra work time during the day. Plus, StarFall has amazing worksheets that you can print out to further your kiddos education and start homeschooling preschool before they go to traditional school (they also have a whole homeschool curriculum should you choose to continue in that direction!). You can check StarFall our for free but you’ll see that quite a bit more can be unlocked if you join as a member. It’s just $35/year and is a tax write off.
As you can see, these five online tools are affordable and will help your work from home journey immensely.
