Helloooo and happy first Friday of the month! As I mentioned last week, this month kicks off the WAHpreneur series with Lindsey of Nutrition to Fit. This month we thought we would chat through our WAHpreneuring why. Why do we put ourselves through it? Why do we wake up early or work late? Why even be a entrepreneur at all!?
I will be the first to admit that my husband has said: “You know, you don’t need to work. I’m not asking you to do this.” But he’s also said stuff like, “Well when ALL the kids are in school, you’d probably work part-time somewhere, right?”
I want to work from home. On my time. Around my + my family’s schedule.
I want to be in the PTA, be a room mom, AND be a kickass business owner making an impact on hundreds of female lives.
I want to stay involved in my profession, network with other business owners, AND be a kickass mom.
I’m WAHpreneur-ing NOW to have that flexibility later. That’s my why, in short.
It’s totally possible. It’s already possible.
Sure there are zillions of other little whys. That extra money comes in handy. Seeing the boys’ love the water thanks to consistent exposure with swim classes is priceless. Being able to accompany my husband on an upcoming work trip will be an experience of a lifetime. I don’t mean to diminish these by saying they’re “little,” but the big why, the big goal? Is to look down the road five years and envision the life I want for myself and my family. That includes all the swimming and trip moments. That includes all the late nights and tired mornings. But it also includes a flexible life that allows me to be present and engaged mom with my family, while making a difference for my community, on and offline.
I found my why and if you’re a fellow WAHpreneur, I encourage you to find yours too.
WAHpreneur Thoughts to Consider:
- What does your ideal day look like?
- What does working at home do for you? And for your family?
- What does five years look like for you? You CAN makes those dreams a reality!
